THE PARAKEET & THE RABBIT/mika nakamura and komako oki brooch sets

Yes, it was entirely necessary to purchase these items and make them a part of my world forever.  I have yet to wear these adorable felt brooches, but I know that they will add a touch of whimsy to just about any ensemble.  Try the links below.  They will lead you to the MoMA store...which is never a bad thing.

THANK YOU, COME AGAIN/cast of vices thank you leather bag

Well...I'm in love.  This time with a perfectly clever item from Cast of Vices.  Yep, a purse that is modeled after a plastic shopping bag...does it get any better??  I saw this bag while in New York at Oak and it haunted me for days.  I was quick to place an order as soon as I returned to Denver.  I love cheeky little garments such as these; and the Thank You Leather Bag is a not only cheeky, but also incredibly high quality.  The luscious lambskin that says "THANK YOU" has perfect detailing such as fine print and the oh so adorable cut-outs on the handles.  Also comes in "I HEART NY."

THE HIGH LIFE/modern vice capri wedge sneakers

Yeah, it's been a little sporty on Dollhouse Vacancy lately.  It does happen to be a major trend of the moment and one that I was thinking I would skip, but it just so happens that many designers have me lusting over their sporty accessories.  I wanted the Isabel Marant wedge sneakers, but I didn't transact in time; and so, I was lucky when I found these Marant look-a-likes in New York.  I'm actually in love with these shoes right now.  I was leery at first because they are not a true heel.  But I have to say that I feel quite comfortable sans le heel because of the wonderfully inventive covered wedge heel.
I'm still plenty propped up where I belong.

SPORTY SPICE/t by alexander wang baggy silk combo t dress

So I have been in a bit of a sporty mood lately, which inspired me to whip out this old baseball cap that I purchased from the GAP years ago.

Also wearing my tourmaline watch that is supposed to relieve fatigue...something I desperately need during these 100+ degree days of summer.  I do not thrive in the heat.

BLINDED BY TRANSPARENCY/visor

I have been desperately craving a visor and thanks to Jerrmaner, one appeared on my doorstep last week.

Think McQueen, Marc by Marc or Givenchy, but any way you slice it, the visor is one of the hottest accessories of the moment and has been seen on many of the runways.  I very much enjoyed the McQueen approach of dressing it up, so that is exactly what I did by pairing mine with an organza bubble mini.

FOLLOW THE LIGHT/nyc part 2

I was so excited to be staying at the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York.  Man...talk about my dream decor! *sigh*  In a perfect world, my home would look like the Gramercy Park Hotel and I would look like Gisele Bundchen...yes, I know this is a far-fetched illusion, but we are talking dream world here, people.

Enjoy all the pretty light pics.  I'm kind of like a moth in that respect, as I am always drawn to any and all lighting...well no, I take that back, I am drawn to good lighting and I think that it is highly disrespectful to have poor lighting in an establishment or at a party.  Everything and everyone looks better at night...so please, always remember to dim those lights.

MOMENT OF SILENCE

Denver is a sad place right now.  My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by the recent tragedy.

GLITZ & GLAMOUR/nyc part 1

I always feel like I am going home when I go to NYC...and my recent trip back was no exception.

We went to NYC to see the Schiaparelli and Prada exhibit at The Met.  It was amazing (of course)...but I also saw many other inspriring things along the way.

STUDDED/gucci studded heels

I believe I purchased these shoes in Spring 2005.  That was during my Gucci phase when any and all purchases (in terms of accessories) had to be Gucci.

I have to say that these shoes (and many other of my Gucci purchases) were some of the best purchases that I have ever made.  The quality is amazing...and they truly never go out of style.

BOULEVARD SAINT-LAURENT/boutique u&i

So one of the boutiques that I fell in love with while in Montreal was a place called Boutique U&I.  They not only had an array of designer duds, but also featured pieces from their own collection.  I purchased a few pieces from the Boutique U&I collection.  I find that I am still giddy about these pieces even weeks after transacting...they are enchanting, unique and completely inviting.  There is no doubt in my mind that I will always be able to count on these pieces during fashion slumps.

For now, you get only a glimpse of the leggings I purchased.  They are truly magnificent!  Throw them on with an over-sized sweater or tunic and a pair of great shoes and you are set.  I think that these leggings and I will have a most enchanting
 Fall/Winter together.

I will be showing pics of the other Boutique U&I pieces that I purchased soon.  Didn't want to give too much of a good thing all at once.

P.S. The staff at the Boulevard Saint-Laurent location of Boutique U&I was amazing!  They were so friendly and helpful and made my purchasing experience an absolute treat.

MAPPED PERSPECTIVE/jackie bassett collage art

Feast your hungry eyes on these!

I discovered Jackie Bassett while in Montreal and purchased 4 greeting cards to frame for my viewing pleasure.  Aren't they amazing?!  If you already knew of Bassett, well then, you already fully understand her talent.  If this is new to you, then you should click here and check out her shop on Etsy.  I think that I will be purchasing many  more of these in the future, but for now I am settling for these few beauties.

I just love how the maps almost look like the woman's insides in the first two pictures.  The first picture is the one that initially got my attention.  I find the picture to be completely haunting; something about the coloring, the woman's facial expression and the placement of the map has me absolutely mesmerized and wanting more.

Hope these feed your soul as much as they fed mine.

SPACE ACID/jnby graphic tee

When I purchased this JNBY tee in Montreal, I asked the girl at the boutique if it was a dress and she reluctantly replied, "Ummm, I guess it could be."  So here I go again...turning tee shirts into mini dresses...is that wrong???  I think my mom is hoping that I grow out of this phase, but honestly, I see no end in sight.

I love this little "dress".  I feel like I could shoot off into space at any moment...and with "NASA" printed on the tee, it is quite possible that I could.

I purchased the dress at a boutique in Montreal called Very Studio.  Everything in that shop was an absolute treat!  I was impressed with the selection because everything in there demonstrated such different and unexpected pattern making, which is one my favorite things to see while searching for new clothes.   I opted for the little mini, as you can see...but I will definitely be purchasing many more JNBY pieces in the future.  I feel that their clothing not only takes pattern making to a new level, but the graphic prints take my mind to another dimension.

I paired it with some of my favorite Jimmy Choo shoes.  I have this particular style in two colors; a hot pink and this acid color (and sometimes I wear one of each color).  Part of the reason I purchased the acid color is because I am extremely afraid of acid and, therefore, that makes the idea of acid color more interesting to me (yes, I know...totally weird).

MONTREAL/part 1

In order for me to start organizing my Montreal photos, I had to start comparing the photos...maybe a little weird, but it's just the way my mind works.  I hope you enjoy.

There will be a Montreal/part 2.  Montreal had so much beauty in the most unapparent places.  The art was phenomenal and I fell in love with so much of the graphic design that I saw around town.

Montreal truly is a most inspiring city.  I can't wait to share some of my Montreal purchases with you all...be excited, be very excited.
